Presentation of the second issue of the plastic arts magazine “Massanes i Pataques”

 

Presentation of the second issue of the plastic arts magazine “Massanes i Pataques”, on Saturday  1st November , at 8 PM, at the Fundació el Solà headquarters  in La Fatarella.  This magazine, which is an innovative artistic proposal in our counties, is produced by “Zero mig partit pel mig” a cultural association based in Corbera d’Ebre.

The magazine will be presented by Xavier Rebés, architect and graphic designer, and by Josep Cañada, the magazine’s coordinator.

After the event, in the same headquarters, you can participate in a wine tasting session of Nakens, a young red wine produced by the Corbera d’Ebre Cooperative.  This wine will be served at the dinner which you can attend if you book by calling the Fundació el Solà number  977 41 39 02 (limited seats) no later than Friday 31st October.

Books, wines and gastronomy

 

“Els safareigs públics de la Conca de Barberà. Un testimoni de la feina de les dones en el passat.” Written by Rosa Maria Canela, Iolanda Vivancos (anthropologists) and Manel Martínez (an expert in the Conca de Barberà region). Published by Cossetània Edicions.

The book launch will be presented by Pepa Nogués, an anthropologist specialising in popular culture, and it will take place on Saturday 13th September 2008, at 8 p.m., at the Fundació el Solà headquarters in La Fatarella.

During the dinner that will take place after the book launch, the wines from l’Olivera will be presented.  L’Olivera is a small working cooperative situated in Lleida, in Vallbona de les Monges.  The winery belongs to the well-known Costers del Segre origin and quality guarantee.  The vineyards are grown deep in the valleys that make up the region’s landscape, in accumulation soils slightly calcareous. The wine elaborated by L’Olivera is produced in 14 ha. of vineyards in the Macabeu, Parellada and Chardonnay varieties.  Six sorts of wines are being offered which combine different production methods and varieties used.

Presentation of the book "EL VECINO DE ABAJO" from Mercedes Abad

 

Saturday 15th at 8.00 p.m., at Fundació Solà headquarters. 

Mercedes Abad was born in Barcelona in 1961.  She studied baccalaureate at the Lycée Français and then she studied Journalism studies at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. 

After some incursions in the worlds of the cinema and theatre, she won the erotic narrative award “La sonrisa vertical” in its 8th edition, in 1986, with the book of stories “Ligeros libertinajes sabáticos”. 

The author will be introduced to the public by Antoni Sans Ardèvol, from la Fatarella, and Sílvia Jornet, also from la Fatarella and a graduate in Hispanic Philology. 

Afterwards, there will be a dinner during which a presentation of wines from Edetària wine cellars from Gandesa will take place.  To book, call Fundació el Solà on 977 41 39 02. There are limited seats and there is time until 13th September.

“The origin of the olive tree” 
The exhibition “The origin of the olive tree” is the first one in the cycle called “Etnoarchaeology of landscapes from Les Garrigues”, an initiative of the Museum of Juneda which pretends to deal with a variety of themes typical of the county of Les Garrigues from an archaeological and ethnographic perspective.  Although the olive tree is nowadays a typical product in the area, its origin must be fetched in the Near East. The exhibition goes on a long journey in five stages back in time until the IV century BC when the first olive oil production in the Iberian peninsula is documented.

Course on dry-stone - Restoration of Ca la Marta Waterwheel

 

Course objectives: to make the waterwheel work, to repair three containing walls and to clear the old path

- April 5th
9:30h.: Presentation to the course with explanations about the work to be done and the variety of dry-stone constructions in La Fatarella.
10:30h Talk on hygiene and security at work.
11:30h: Visit to the waterwheel,distribution of groups and beginning of the course.

- April 12th and 19th
9:30 to 13:30 Practical classes.
