Tileworks

Tileworks were built to manufacture “Arabic tiles”, also known as common tiles.

The manufacturing process consisted of modeling the clay into its characteristic cone shape and placing it in the kiln where it was fired at very high temperatures.

There were various tileworks in La Fatarella, but only the remains of one can be found in Pinal de Cancana, which was probably used very little due to the bad quality of clay in the area. It is a considerably large dry stone construction and next to it stand the ruins of other dry stone constructions that had been used by the workers and beasts of burden
